Gail Lawther Workshop May 2016

Pebbles In The Sand by Helen Attree

Section of Pebbles In The Sand by Helen Attree

Following Gail Lawther’s presentation last year I signed up for her workshop in May. There was the opportunity to make one of three designs from her book, Glimpses of New Zealand, which I had purchased. The majority of the group chose to do Seascape which involves making a stitch and flip background embellished with wild imagination. The results were varied and amazing. Gail’s other designs on offer that day were Stone Spiral, using bondaweb and Maori Curves, using the reverse appliqué method. I made the Stone Spiral design in a red and yellow colour combination to match my lounge decor. It’s not finished yet but will hopefully be on display very soon. The day sped by with Gail helping and encouraging our efforts. The usual sharing of ideas and supplies went on as did the chatter and cups of tea. Another good day sewing.
