Ouse Valley Quilters' Workshop Needs
- PAT DEACON - DOUBLE SIDED LOG CABIN
Thursday 24th JUNE 2010 at Berwick Village Hall 10am until 4pm
Needs list:
- Sewing machine, 1/4 inch walking foot, foot pedal and power cable
- Cutting mat, ruler and rotary cutter with a sharp blade
- Iron/ small board and extension lead if you have them
- Sewing kit, scissors, pins etc
- Sewing thread in a neutral colour to blend with your chosen fabrics for piecing. Grey or beige work well with most fabric colours
Fabric choice is very personal, but you can approach this workshop by either taking an opportunity to use some of you remnants, or to use a more restricted colour range. We will be working in either 1 1/2" or 2" strips. depending on the size of the project you wish to start. If you choose to make a scrappy quilt you will need a range of light, med and dark fabrics in one or two colour ranges.
If you choose to make a more structured quilt you will need 1/2m each of 2 contrasting fabrics for the "front", and 1/2m each of 2 different contrasting fabrics for the "back" to make a small wall-hanging 27" x 27".
If you choose to make a slightly larger wall-hanging you will need 3/4m or each of the fabrics, and for a lap-quilt sized piece, then you will need 1m of each of the fabrics.
You will need a piece of wadding the size of the project you wish to work on - 27" x 27".
36" x 36" or 50" x 50" Ideally the wadding should not have too much loft so the preferred choice would be cotton (ie Warm & Natural), a polyester and cotton mix or needle-punched polyester.
Bring a packed lunch.
